Do You Prefer to Save Your Throne or Your Country?
To be a king is an unjust thing. Why do you place such an excessive value upon it? The wise folk show kno, that what suffices is ample. Wealth is not a permanent thing. It is short lived. Would you prefer to sav your throne or your country? And so by implication, that is the question that caesar was facing and he didn't want to show us this side of his character. But when all is said and done, this was a matter of ambition. He became dictator for life. That was the death knell of the republic. Was his choice to become dictator for life, to become king, rather than trying to re institute republican virtue
