The Role of Anger in the Moral Life
Frida Ghitis: Anger is a passion that, perhaps surprisingly, is essential to the moral life. She says it impels us to seek vindication through punishing the wrongdoer and restoring justice. The Stoics thought it best that we were rid of anger because it hinders our judgment; Aquinas disagrees. Ghitis: Perhaps our lives will be better without anger entirely. We should distinguish between improper anger on one hand as a passion and acting on the basis of that anger on the other.
