The Importance of Grey Squirrels in Italy
The grey squirrel has obviously won. What's the point of intervening, really? It seems inevitable. Most of mainland Europe doesn't have grey squirrels. Italy is an interesting case because they have spread much more slowly there. But that seems to be because there were only very few introduced. They are much weaker than our fine, vigorous British grey squirrels who descended from a concerted attempt to introduce them in the 19th century.
