Sal Meduchin developed structural family therapy to my mind still, and probably forever the most well articulated systemic perspective on family functioning. Virginia Satir who worked originally with the mental research institute folks went off and really developed her own experiential approach. So there's a number of pioneers and then we get to the 70s and finally there are conferences where people are presenting their workUsually live presentations with families on stage and then therapists could ask questions and comment.
