Culture in its true meaning is widest possible education, plus a special refinement and taste. All colloquial expressions are little foxes that spoil the grapes of perfect diction. A low voice is always pleasing, not whispered or murmured, but low pitch. Do not pronounce each syllable as though it were a separate tongue. Tens of thousands of us race and slur and shout and burr and many others of us draw our tongues at full speed. Pitch does not matter so much, and do not speak with your whole hand rather than just your mouth. Enunciation is not so essential except to one who speaks in public. The false elegance of stupid pretentiousness is an annihilating blight
