What Is a Power Pose?

A power pose is an expansive posture imagined sort of what a super hero would do, or what you do when you win first place in a race. Animals will stand on their hind legs to make themselves look bigger. Chimps will sometimes pick up sticks and hold them out to make himself look bigger. When we feel powerful, we we want to take up a lot of space in the world to signal we're in charge. We've got the power right now, even if it's fleeting like winning a race.
