I think most people who think that we are going to achieve like strong AGI think that recursive self improvement will happen. It doesn't mean you can predict it. We don't have enough concrete examples of that dynamic playing out in order to form a valid induction over it. But even if the speed up is slowing down, it's still a speed up, right?
