I love the way that you describe co-authoring, right? Because that's what you create space for a reader to do. And there's this tension as a reader between saying, okay, I really want to know what happens. But I also want to think through what's going on with the characters and where the story might go. She writes a lot of what we both call unrealistic realistic fiction - stuff set in the real world but might be somewhat unlikely.
