Introduction
On august twelfth, two thousand 17, i was standing on a corner in a quiet neighborhood in front of a methodist church. A white van pulled up and nine young men in khaki pants and sport shirts flowed out. They unfurled flags and began to march in two lines as the van pulled away. I never thought in my life that i would see knotsy flags flying on american soil. We may live lives in the same country, or the same city, or even under the same roof, but we live in different realities, different universes.
