The Physiological Response to Sensory Stimuli

Aquinas acknowledges that it belongs to the soul. These powers, the passions or a petitive power, sensory appetites have as their very acts or movements these passions. So when you walk into the kitchen and you smell some good food cooking, you're going to have a physiological response. You may start salivating in various ways and other things. Or if you are caught in a very fearful situation, you'll be shaking. It's all in one because the soul and body are literally one unit.
