Each layer is like a Russian doll matruska, kind of a Russian doll, right, situation. Every layer adds other headers to maintain itself. So, when I tell you an IP packet, you think of, oh, IP packet is just, it doesn't know port. It just knows the IP, the destination IP, and the source IP,. And now we have a beautiful packet. This packet goes down to layer two, which is, guess what? It's called the data link. The data link was invented way before. Before the idea of IP addresses and all that stuff, right, the routing capability of IP addresses were very limited. You can't fight two network cards
