The culture of building nuclear, building and operating nuclear reactors in the US S Navy is extraordinary. I'm not sure we can go so far as to say you pluck the reactor out and put it on land because it may be using fuels that are not considered appropriate for civilian operated reactors. But certainly we have an example of what's possible if we choose to do it with relatively little interference. Now, relatively little interference may sound glorious for an engineer, but it sounds anti-democratic to somebody who's publicly minded. We will need to find some sort of balance.
