How Are Breakpoints Set?
Breakpoints are not naturally occurring phenomenon. They are set and voted upon by committees, like CLSI and UCAST. There are a number of different factors that these committees take into account. CELISI has been very conservative and setting anti-fungal breakpoints because they really don't see data correlating with an MIC. I'm trying to acquire the M57 document so that we have it available for our lab as well.
