The King's War With the Gentiles
The Book of Sirac tells the story of a man who gave his life to save his people. He was killed by an elephant, which fell on him as he tried to kill it. The king made peace with Betzur and they evacuated the city because they had no provisions there to withstand a siege since it was a sabbatical year for the land. But Lysaeus heard that Philip, whom king Antiochus while still living, had appointed to bring up Antiochus his son to be king, had returned from Persia and Medea. So he found Philip in control of the city, but he fought against him and took the city by force.
