Christ as Agent of Yahweh's Day of Wrath

Zephaniah associates the day of the Lord with Yahweh's great in-gathering at the end of the age to punish the wicked and renew the righteous. Both Jeremiah and Ezekiel use the same language of sacrifice and association with God's eschatological punishment. The blended images of war and sacrifice depict how Yahweh justly secures atonement and re-establishes a state of right order.
