People at the time were very sensitive to their histories, and probably knew them well from oral traditions that were passed down. But they were also very sensitive to the natural world in a way that we tend to think of farmers as being chain saw wielding maniacs. And i think that's but wat we've learned that you can't lump all sot of farmers and all people who are doing acts of deforestation into one category. There's a lot to learn from the way in which farmers at the time Were actually managing the woodland in a ways that was very sensitive to its needs.
