The Elm Tree: A Symbol of Chivalry
He's carrying on the tradition of the man who taught him. He's paying homage to the guy that made him what he is. The elm tree itself, it's pretty perfect as a symbol as well for the sigil. After all, he's sleeping under this tree. It really says hedge night. I mean, it's not a hedge. It's a tree, but it's one of the nicer trees. You feel that like this is sort of chivalrous.
