This chapter explores the transformation of a village in China through rural revitalization projects, including the restoration of traditional buildings and the creation of cultural spaces for tourism.
Both urban and rural residents have benefited immensely from the market economy. Restaurants, supermarkets and malls crop up in our neighborhood and have made our lives more convenient than ever before. The market, however, has not responded to our cultural demands as efficiently as it has to our more earthly desires. The development of cultural spaces, therefore, hinges on more targeted initiatives at least for the time being. On the show: Laiming, Niu Honglin & Xingyu
