The Cost of Nuclear Infrastructure

The U.S. is burning more fossil fuel than ever, and it's not going to stop until we get rid of coal as quickly as possible. The longer you can keep existing nuclear reactors going, the more cost effective they become over their lifetime. Shutting them down early makes nuclear more expensive because you're giving away free energy. We shouldn't burn one chunk of coal more than we absolutely need to; some countries are unfortunately.
