When Neil Kennett became leader in 83 he had already established himself as someone who was trying to move labor in a different direction and so it sort of all cohered with Kia Stama. Jeremy Corbyn then fought a leadership election with those famous pledges which I'm sure he probably regrets but that's a bit like you know Nick Clegg saying I regret the pledge to scrap tuition fees before the 2010 election rather than regretting the pledge to triple them when he came in not pledged the implementation of it.
