The Importance of Stravinsky
Stravinsky is one of those people for me, like I must be the only person who has ever worked for Radio 3 that isn't obsessed with Stravinsky. So he's one of those just so important, amazing monumental composers in the history of 20th century music and ever since. And this is Shrove Tied Fair. It took me back to childhood in the sense that my teachers would play classical music when everybody was coming into assembly in the morning. This piece of music reminded me of that, it reminded me of the Tang of Salt in Play-Doh and the smell of floor wax and industrial carpets and frozen sat-sum appeals outside on Frosty T
