For any patient with a confirmed or presumptive diagnosis of an STI, they should be tested for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis. In terms of whether that testing should occur in the emergency department versus some other outpatient setting, it really comes down to how well your emergency department is set up. That will really depend on where you work and depend on the patient themselves and their situation.
