The Talmud is a commentary on the Mishnah. It's divided into six orders and is basically a collection of all of the oral laws that are tenuously derived from the biblical text. But nowhere in the Mishnah does it actually say, or rarely does it actually says, where in the Bible do these laws come from? "I think they realize that if you just put a book of laws together, people may or may not follow"
