The Rise of Neo-Evangelicalism in America

In the 19 twenties and thirties, mainline american denominations were all really taken over by those who were theologically liberal and progressive. Bible believing cis an suddenly found themselves as the minority within their own denominations. This led to a reputation amongst fundamentalists that they were militant and combative. And so in the 19 forties, there was a younger group of fundamentalist leaders who wanted to distance themselves from that reputation. They started a new organization called the national association of evangelic s,. A new movement called neo evangelicalism which was supposed to be a kind of a friendlier form of fundamentalism. That really created a split within bible believing christianity in America.
