The letter writer wonders if she's really had to sit down with her partner and talked about the toll this is taking on her. I think she want she let him know very clearly how much this is upsetting her, then sort of take a step back and see how he reacts. This is clearly the kind of relationship they've had for a long time. So don't try to manage or control the situation. But i do think there's room here for one good clear advice.
