Mark Greco's Experimental Lab Hives

Mark Greco is studying bees' role in the transmission of European foul brood. The disease kills off bee larvae and scarves columns, depriving them of labour. He decided to try out a technique he'd seen used at nuclear power plants. A coffee cup was filled with ten worker bees for each segregation cup. They were then sucked through an entrance tube using a domestic vacuum cleaner. It took just over two minutes before they had all been sucked into their cups.
