There was a lot of hope among left winger social democrats and liberals that the soviet union was going to keep socialism, but democratize. People thought it was going to happen. And i think this move definitely participates, like a little bit in that a belief. It's o interesting to me that they rescue this, not the us. President, but theSoviet premier who is supposed to be gorbachof.
