The Cost of Seasonal Storage in Queensland
There's just not enough revenue from the insurance capability that it provides. As the market develops, on the average day you're really only going to need for about three or four hours. Yet the Queensland government program doesn't really leave any room for shorter duration storage in their idea of it. It seems to me like they're falling into the sort of vanity projects that had Malcolm Turnbull committing to snowy hydro all those years ago. So if we do need seasonal storage, we do need 24-hour storage at some scale.
