Sometimes only one of the four crossroads is allowed to move. In France, it's difficult to explain but people in front of you pass each other. Most of the time they're like that in the UK as well. Because our city planning is terrible. I needed to turn left, which meant that I needed to wait for the oncoming traffic to stop. But while I was waiting for that, I was blocking everyone behind me because the street isn't wide enough. They can't get around you while you're waiting to turn left. That's why I'm saying poor city planning.
