The Power of One Hour

The Law and Order franchise has been on television now for over 30 years. What do you think makes this show resonate so powerfully with people? I think that Dick Wolf hit on a formula that is really self-contained in that you don't have to have watched the prior episode or the subsequent episode without getting the full story in that one hour slot. You get what you get in that hour and you know the characters because you've seen them.
