John j astor was a freemason and served as master of holland lodge number eight, new york city in 17 88. He later served as grand treasurer for the grand lodge of new york which is the oldest independent organization of freemasonsin hstate of New York. It was once the largest grand lodge in the world in terms of membership. For young its a youth movement for young women between ages ten and 21 years old.
