side effect is a term used in functional programming to talk about stuff that happens when you call a function. In your book, you call it implicit and explicit, inputs and outputs. Why dont you choose those words? And what do you mean withThose, for people who don't know what side effects are, right? Ok, so side effect is an idea of the process of refractoring, moving, making something into a function with outside effects, which i call a calculation.
