The Importance of Resolutions in the Middle East
In the decades after 1948, tensions between Israel and its Arab neighbors escalated. By 1967, things had become very bad; Egypt and Jordan started building up their military forces near Israel's border. In June 1967, Israeli Air Force initiated a surprise preemptive attack on Egypt. The Golan Heights from Syria and East Jerusalem and the West Bank would become known as Palestinian Territories.
