Any social animal is operating off of social referencing in a pretty profound ay. And all animals are communicating that way, even between species. Dog's evolutionary nich makes tem the scavenger of human left orbers,. Body language, facial expression, micro signal watcher and responder. If you don't take the time to send the right signals to your dog in the face of this crazy world theyve found themselves in, and to give them the information that they need, they are that much more at a psychological deficit for the sense of feeling safety. I think it's impossible for us to ultimately resolve the generalized anxiety phenomenon in our dogs' lives.
