Is Young Hay Trying to Be a Tree?

Young hay is deliberately trying to become not a person, so that we can't she wants to bea tree. Like she does not want us to know her in any real way. She bites a doctor who's trying to shove food down her throat because she can see the violence of the moment. And then they are transferring her to another facility where they can essentially, i guess it's like hospice care, because she's just going to waste away. It ends with them having, like, a very violent attempt to make young hay injest food again.
