The German System Separates Out the Radical Right From the Mainstream Right
Duland a f d, for short, is the german far right, anti imigrant party. Right and a f d has done pretty well at the ballot box in some recent elections. Because they run as a separate party, they don't have the capacity to take over the mainstrem christian democrats which have been running germany for such a long time. As ult they remain the sort of rump faction in parliament that's capable of being isolated. The us system does not do that, and that creates profoundly different incentives and capacities for far right parties.
