"i'm excited that, you know, your books are going potentially to be that for kids," she says. "I think it's depressing to be a child and and have adults constantly telling you that you don't have real problems", the author adds. The book series is meant to speak to children right where they are, even if some parents may not agree with its themes or take issue with them.
