IBSM is a mix of both diarrhea and constipation. IBSU is unclassified, which means patients who haven't met the technical criteria for IBS in terms of diarrhea or constipation. Doctors will look for red flag symptoms to see if there may be something more going on here beyond just run of the mill at your mobile syndrome. Red flag symptoms include unexplained weight loss, anemia, seeing blood in the stool,. having diarrhea in the middle of the night, having progressive and intensifying abdominal pain.
