What's the Goal of Swift?
The goal of swift, the way chris latna describes it, is to be infinitely hackable. I want something where me and the people i do research with and my students can look at and change everything from top to bottom. Because pyton's so slow, it's extremely unhackable. So that means that our understanding of deep learning is incredibly primitive. There's very little we understand. Most things don't work very well. Even athough it works better than anything else out there, there's so many opportunities to make it better.
