The Romans were able to run wars on two completely separate fronts and emerge victorious from both. The strategy was straightforward, though it took years to see it through to the end. Unlike their neighbors in the lowlands, samnites did not concentrate in large cities. As a result, there was no one place the romans could target to bring a swift conclusion to hostilities.
