"I could remember the challenges of, you know, learning to wear like a flip flop with a thong in between," she says. "Another one definitely that I noticed was the way of studying and this would be where you would talk about echolalia." The phenomenon is when people on the spectrum mimic a sound or repeat a word back without necessarily having a communicative need for that. 'Eating disorders should be screens for being on the spectrum,' he adds.
