Jean-Marie Van Graum moved to New York from Paris in 68. He ran a $15 million fund for the bank that would later become BNP Paribas. In 1978, he was let go after getting restless and read Lee Cooperman's piece about Warren Buffett. "I think at some point, Buffett said, hey, I don't need geniuses to run the businesses in which I invest," says Van Graum.
