The Importance of Planning and Research in Regulation Reform
James Kato: One of the frustrations that i run into as kind of a free market leaning guy is just that there aren't that many people really like me on in regulatory reform. It's incredibly frustrating to me that value judgments which are essentially academic literature has come to support what I consider ethical or value judgment decisions and then analysts in the government say look we're just following the science. He says it's very confusing for the average policy maker to see that it's not science and so it's an area where he thinks the elites are pulling a fast one on the public.
