archaeological evidence suggests that, rather than cairo kind of getting bigger and bigger. by the time of the late iron age, the sight actually appears to be abandoned. This provides us with a sort of enigma here. We haven't got a linear development to a tribal entity. People fragment out into the landscape. There's a lot of questions around why that might happen. Because if we think back or definition at the start, what an ethnic group is is people wo see themselves as culturally distinct. That doesn't quite make sense with the archological evidence at this time. You seem to have really messy relationships between lots ofd lots of disprate small groups. And its made me begin
