The Low 50s Are Walk Away
Ford bought 2.3 million shares at a lower number than the actual price because they bought them in cash. When you add it all up, well they're paying a little less than 60 for themselves for the shares they will own but you as a shareholder you're getting 60 bucks. Why did they pay it? Well it was competitive. So Emerson can at least say hey this justifies why we're paying and somebody else was willing to. Ford is a smaller company, smaller balance sheet would have required them taking on a lot of debt. Might have gotten them to a leverage ratio of as much as 4.6 times. That's pretty high.
