What's the Difference Between Protest and Protest?

Lament is an act of resignation that accepts the pain and the loss, but it insists that things have to change. In protest, there is no resignation, but it is an insistence that something new must emerge here. Laments in the book of Psalms are not acts of resignation, because they usually end in an imperative asking and trusting that God will do something new. And that newness, as you demonstrate in the last chapter of the book, is always preceded by groaning.
