The History of Square Dancing
There was an attempt to make the square dance, the official dance of America. Henry Ford's solution? Hulsome white traditions of music and dance. By the end of the 1920s, after Henry Ford's campaign, almost half the school children in America were learning square dancing or other forms of folk dance. Dozens of bills and resolutions endorsing square dancing went before Congress and state legislatures right into the early 2000s.
