The Sensitive Signs of Zinc Deficiency

The menstrual cycle can decrease plasma zinc by 10%. Someone with good zinc status, say at 1000 micrograms per liter, that might tank down to 900 during the ovulatory and luteal phases. Inflammation and stress can affect plasma zinc. Zinc is not redox reactive. So it doesn't have this characteristic where more zinc than we need will cause oxidative stress and a syndrome of toxicity.
