Is the Sullivan Standard in Danger?
Two supreme court justices, clarence thomas and neil gorsich, called for the court to reconsider new york times v sullivan in descents last july. Professor coppleman: I think that the sullivan standard has been good for truthful reporting of news. He says a pre existing defamation law just didn't place any weight at all on the public's interest in knowing the news.
