The Importance of Moral Decline
Julie Simpson: I have always had a kind of detached curiosity about why this line resonates so strongly. Why is it that leaders all over the world, can just say, oh, things were better back then? And it immediately clicks for people; they don't even have to explain it. It's like four words and all the assumptions are immediately there for people. The word again evokes a sense of loss, but also a sense of possibility of restoring the loss.
